Derek Henson is an alumni of Blue RIdge High School where he was a member of the corps of cadets from 2005-2009. In 2010 he joined the staff of Woodmont High School as a front ensemble Instructor (2010-2012) After leaving Woodmont Derek went on to be the head Percussion Instructor at Woodruff High School (2012-2014) He returned to Woodmont  in 2015 where he served as the DIrector of Percussion until 2020. While back at Woodmont he split the time with JL Mann High School during 2017 & 2018. Where he and the team brought the Winter Percussion Ensemble to win their 1st CWEA championship in their 2nd year in existence with a repeat the following year.  Both Ensembles brought home many accomplishments during this time. 

 

Derek is currently the Attendance Coordinator at Woodmont High School and is also attending Liberty University working on his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in digital marketing and advertising. Derek currently resides in Greer with his wife Kendra and son Cash. He enjoys binge watching random shows, hollering at Alexa, and laughing with just about anyone.
